Miriam S. (Stuhlman) Wolmer

October 11, 1921 ~ November 16, 2016 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Miriam Stuhlman Wolmer passed away on November 16, 2016.

She was born in 1921 in Hartford CT and attended school there. She then went to University of Connecticut for several semesters, and continued her college education at Western Connecticut University in Danbury, CT.

Midge, as she was known to those who were close to her, was a devoted companion to her husband Richard A. Wolmer, to whom she was married for fifty-six years. Family was always her first priority and she loved centering her life on the raising of her two children, Mark R. Wolmer and Judith M. Kline. She was a caring grandmother of five children, and three great-grandchildren.

She often referred to herself as a “professional volunteer”, as she participated in numerous community services. She was active in the First Congregational Church of Danbury, CT, and volunteered at both Walter Reed Hospital during World War II, and later at Danbury Hospital. She also served as president of the Danbury Garden Club.

She provided formative experiences to young women by serving as a Girl Scout troop leader for thirteen years, guiding them from Brownies through Senior Scouting. This activity provided an outlet for her artistic creativity and led her to a new appreciation of nature and wildlife, which she passed on to both her Scouts and family. Her leadership provided opportunities to engage in unforgettable community services. Many have shared their appreciation for the positive influence she was in their lives.

After her husband’s retirement, they enjoyed traveling, golfing and entertaining together. She was honored and celebrated at a family memorial service on November 19th in Danbury. She was much loved and will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
