Welcome to the memorial page for

Harold E. Allen

December 26, 1935 ~ April 10, 2016 (age 80) 80 Years Old

Harold E. Allen, 80 of Bethel passed away April 10, 2016 at Danbury Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born at home in Huntington, Vermont, son of the late John and Mildred Allen.

He came to Connecticut with his bride Marguerite in the 1950's along with his older brother Dayle. He firmly believed in hard work and went into the tree work business. Following that he became an expert carpenter. Together with his son Sean he went on to start Allen and Son Custom Carpentry and built many modern style homes in Lower Fairfield County. He was a man of uncommon humor, wit, wisdom and common sense, but not much patience.

He will be sadly missed by many, including his loving wife of 62 years Marguerite Malaney. His 4 beautiful daughters Peggy DeSantis (Dennis), Deborah Allen-Moradel (Walter)-deceased, Gail Krompinger (Ted), Laurel Draper (Tim), and his only son Sean (Grace). Also his 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.

Pops favorite past times included hunting with his son Sean, watching NASCAR and drinking beer. His most favorite day of the week was Friday when his kids would stop by to have a beer with Pops. In his younger years he enjoyed family camping trips and motorcycle riding. Everyone loved to be around Pops, with his endless stories and "Haroldisms" he was truly entertaining. He was a loving man who taught many boys how to be men. He was larger than life, the life of the party and family meant everything to him. He will be sadly missed but never ever forgotten. The world according to Harold was a much better place.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial Mass at St Mary's Church, 26 Dodgingtown Rd., Bethel Saturday April 16 at 10am and a celebration of his life luncheon following at Anthony's Lake Club, 10 Christopher Columbus Ave Danbury. Please omit flowers. Donations in his memory can be made to the Bethel Ambulance Service.
