Donald Gilbert Marsh, age 90, of New Milford, CT died Saturday, April 30, 2016, 2016 at Candlewood Valley Care Center, New Milford. He was the husband of the late Rosa (Sauter) Marsh, his wife of 54 years.

Mr. Marsh was born in New Milford, February 12, 1926, son of the late Gerald and Marie Marsh. He was a graduate of New Milford High School and received a B.S. in Engineering from the University of Connecticut, class of 1950. He served in the U.S. Army 84th Infantry, 355 Regiment during WWII and fought in the Battle of the Bulge, receiving three battle stars and the Combat Infantry Badge. He worked for the Connecticut Department of Transportation in Engineering from 1951 to 1976. In 1976 he became the first Director of Public Works for the Town of New Milford, retiring in 1988 to work in private practice for C.J.O.J. Surveyors and Engineers.

He was a member of the New Milford Zoning Commission for 10 years, a member of the New Milford Economic Commission from 1975 to 1988 and was a member of the New Milford Historical Society. He also served in the Cub Scouts and Troop 77 Boy Scouts for several years.

Mr. Marsh is survived by his 3 sons:  Peter K. Marsh and his wife Prudence of Zionsville, PA, David S. Marsh of Winsted, CT, James D. Marsh and his wife Christine of New Milford, CT as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The funeral Service will be held at the Colonial Funeral Home, 87 Park Lane Rd., New Milford, Tuesday at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Center Cemetery, New Milford.

The family will receive friends at the Colonial Funeral Home, during the hour preceding the service from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
