Welcome to the memorial page for

Harriet T. (Tarrant) Rosenberg

December 28, 1924 ~ September 22, 2016 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Harriet Tarrant Rosenberg, 91 years young, died peacefully, on September 22, 2016 at home in Danbury. She was born in Redding, CT, daughter to the late James E. and Harriet (Bartram) Tarrant. She was the wife of 51 years to Edwin A. Rosenberg and was a lifelong area resident.

Harriet was raised in Redding, CT with her late brother, James and her sister, Elva. In her early 20’s she became a mother to Richard M, Virginia J. and Paul Terry Crowley. She worked as a waitress, as a cook for Raymond B. Fosdick and his wife and then returned to college to earn a degree in Education at WCSU.  She later earned a Master’s Degree there, as well. She taught in Ridgefield, CT and she taught ESL in Danbury for Catholic Charities.  She was also an adjunct professor at WCSU.

With her husband Edwin, she taught at the Community School in Teheran, Iran from 1976-1978. From Iran, they were able to travel extensively in the Middle East, Europe and Asia. Many memories were formed and many dear friends made in their travels. When their grandchildren were older, they traveled with them. Harriet and Edwin continued to travel in the US well into their 80’s. Harriet especially enjoyed yearly visits to the Shaw Festival in Canada each fall. She always looked forward to her March trips to Yankees Spring Training. She loved her Yankees and the Patriots.

Harriet is survived by her husband, her three children, her sister, and their families. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ryan of VT, Dylan of PA, Aileen of AZ, Emily of VT, and Zachary of MA. Also surviving her are her adored great-grandchildren Asa, Harriet, Prudence, Rhys, Marin, Padraig, Daphne, Lilianna and Greyson. She also leaves behind her “other sons” Dong-Gun, Keith and Joe. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.

We would like to thank Western CT Regional Hospice for her care and all the care they gave to her family as well. Thank you so much Ophilia for being there for Mom. She could not have been blessed with a better angel.

The family will hold a gathering of family and friends at a later date.
