Carmine Dominick Tiso, age 90, of Sandy Hook, CT died Friday, November 25, 2016 at his home. He was the husband of the late Margaret (Santangelo) Tiso.

He was born in Mount Vernon, NY, August 22, 1926, son of the Italian-American immigrants Cosmo and Amelia Tiso. He graduated from Edison High School in Mt Vernon, NY, where he was a multi sports athlete and played league ball in Mt Vernon for the Stormers. He served in the Army during WWII stationed at Fort Dix as a medic and played baseball for the base team. After working for the Westinghouse Corp., he went on to found his own business “Tiso Appliance” in Pelham, NY which remains under family operation.

Carmine is survived by his daughter: Patricia A. Fragola and her husband Peter of Bethel, CT; son: John Tiso and his wife Lauren of Amherst, NH; a sister: Antoinette “Dolly” Scorca; six grandchildren: Peter Fragola and his wife Stephanie, Vinny Fragola and his wife Marta, Tricia Kershaw and her husband Dustin, Danny, Nick and Kati Tiso; great grandson: Jackson Fragola as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a son: Frank J. Tiso and sisters: Mary Corrado and Ann Figliuzzi.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Newtown, Monday morning at 10:00. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Bethel.

The family will receive friends at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, Sunday afternoon from 1:00 to 4:00.
