Susan Dundatscheck Obituary

Susan Dundatscheck passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 1, 2018, at Danbury Hospital, CT.  She was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 2, 1941.

Susan most recently lived in Southbury, Connecticut, but raised her family in Clinton Corners, New York. She also resided in Pleasant Valley, NY, and Tivoli, NY, for a time. Upon returning to work after devoting herself as a mother and homemaker, Susan worked at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Library in Hyde Park, New York, and at Dutchess County OCIS in Poughkeepsie, New York.

She had a passion for reading, which she instilled in her daughters.  Susan was an avid collector of Teddy Bears of all kinds.  She also spent many hours knitting with friends at the Red Hook Library.  She made wonderful gifts for family and donated handmade cancer caps.  Her grandchildren were her greatest joy and she loved just being with them and seeing them happy.

Susan was predeceased by her parents, Irving and Ann Eckstein. She is survived by her former husband, Robert Dundatscheck of Milton, NY. She leaves behind three daughters: Wendy Barnabo and her husband Chris of Bethel, CT; Joan Lewis and her husband Dan of Stanfordville, NY; and Tracy Brown and her husband Scott of Owego, NY.  She’s also survived by her grandchildren: Evan, Collin, and Braeden Barnabo; Ryan, Rachel, Jack and Maegan Flynn; Grace Lewis; Justin, Alex, and Olivia Brown.

In honor of Susan’s wishes, there will be no calling hours.  Her family will schedule a private service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105, or to the Tivoli Free Library, 86 Broadway, Tivoli, NY 12583.
