Rita Warren Obituary

Rita Margaret Warren

Rita M. (Sullivan) Warren, 90, a Danbury resident for many years who was currently residing at River Glen Healthcare Center in Southbury, entered into eternal rest on April 12, 2022. She was the wife of the late Franklyn G. Warren. Proud of her Irish-Catholic roots, Rita was a devoted member of St. Joseph’s Church in Danbury for many years.

Rita was born in Danbury on October 29, 1931, to the late Richard and Mary Sullivan. The youngest of three children, Rita and her two siblings, Joe and Mary, after losing both of their parents at an early age remained close to each other for the rest of their lives. After attending schools in Danbury and Bethel, including St. Peter’s School in Danbury, Rita graduated from Bethel High School in 1949. In that same graduating class were her future husband and her brother, Joe.

In June, 1953, Rita and Frank were married. They later raised their three children in Westport and Danbury. As the last surviving member of the 1952 Danbury Hospital School of Nursing, Rita spent many years working as a nurse; mostly at Danbury Hospital. She retired from Danbury Hospital in 1995. Besides being a caring nurse, she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, a wonderful mother-in-law, and someone who adored being an aunt to her many nieces and nephews. There was nothing that was more important to her than her family.

Besides her parents and husband, Rita was predeceased by her two siblings, as well as by her daughter, Nancy, and a grandson, Nick. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Peter (Debbie) Warren, her daughter, Patricia (Peter) Siecienski, her grandchildren, Brian (Kati) Warren,  Sean (Lauren) Warren, Steven Siecienski, Lauren (Bryan) Cassidy, and Heidi Bundy. She is also survived by her four great-grandchildren who she loved deeply.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 18th, 2022, at 10:30 a.m., at Hull’s Funeral Home on 60 Division Street, Danbury, CT. Family and friends interested in paying their respects may do so starting at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow immediately after the funeral service and will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bethel, CT.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rita’s name to the University of Connecticut Foundation for Huntington’s Disease, 10 Talcott Notch Road, Suite100, Farmington, CT 06032 or online at http://www.foundation.uconn.edu/. Please note on your check that your donation is made in memory of Franklyn Gardner Warren.

Rita’s family would like to thank the staff at River Glen Healthcare Center for the excellent care they provided during her stay. While the entire staff was wonderful, we would like to recognize Joan Ellen, Sunny, and Mary for the special attention they gave to our mother.
