Richard Henry Polzin, of Brookfield, Connecticut, was called home to his heavenly Father on September 14, 2023. He was the husband of Joan (Schwartz) Polzin.

He graduated from Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, Illinois, and was called to be a teacher at Immanuel Lutheran School in Danbury, Connecticut, in 1951.

He was predeceased by his parents and his first wife, Vivian (McElhattan) Polzin, and his step-daughter, Allyson Krieger. He is survived by his wife Joan (Schwartz) Polzin, of Brookfield, CT, his brother Kurt Polzin, of Philadelphia, PA, and his children, Ruth Matern and her husband Rick, Christine Saffi and her husband Joseph, R. He was blessed to be called "Poppy" by his 9 grandchildren and their spouses, as well as his 16 great-grandchildren.
