Polly Dwinells Obituary

Known as a classy lady with a kind heart and beautiful smile, Polly A. Dwinells passed away on March 20th, 2024.  Polly will be missed by all who knew her, especially her family and friends who had the chance to visit her in one of her many flower gardens.  Polly was an active member of the Bethel community where she and her loving husband Roy built their home with their own hands over 50 years ago.  Born July 29th, 1934 in Danbury, CT, Polly spent her childhood on the Zinn Dairy Farm in Danbury in an idyllic country setting, giving her the roots of her strong character and love for gardening. After WWII, she moved with her family to Bridgeport and Fairfield and graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School in Fairfield with the class of 1952.

While living in Bethel, she served on committees at church and spent much of her time serving others.  She worked as an Administrative Assistant at Consolidated Controls and Eaton Corp.  After their retirement, Polly and her loving husband Roy spent many summer weekends selling her hand-crafted flower arrangements or organic herbs at regional country fairs and tending to the beautiful gardens surrounding their home.

Polly is survived by her elder sister Mildred “Mickey” Hwozdek of State College, PA, and her twin sister Irene “Reno” Scosta of Newtown, CT, as well as three sons; Jeffrey Jarosz and his wife Jen of Bethel, Mathew Dwinells and his wife Li who lead and manage an orphanage in the Phillippines, and Mark Dwinells and his wife Karen of Bethel, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She is pre-deceased by her husband Leroy E. Dwinells, her brothers Michael and Joseph Zinn, and her sister Sophie (Zinn) Brady.

The family will receive friends in the Bethel Funeral Home at 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, CT on Saturday, March 23rd at 10:30 am, with the funeral service at 11:30 am.  Following her funeral services, Polly will join Roy in their final resting place at the Elmwood Cemetery in Bethel.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Bethel Brotherhood in Action, POB 582, Bethel, CT 06801, or online at http://www.biabethel.org/home.
