Patricia Burgess Obituary

Patricia Murphy Burgess of Bethel, CT, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at the age of 82. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Trish was born to the late John and Christine (Connolly) Murphy on April 15, 1939, in Boston, MA. She was the youngest of three daughters. She married the late Kenneth C. Burgess, Sr., from Saltville, Virginia in 1963 and they settled in Bethel, CT where she raised her family and worked at Duracell Corporation.

In her early years, she spent two years in postwar Germany before returning to the U.S. She graduated from Barnstable High School on Cape Cod and went on to study at Chamberlain Junior College in MA. Trish enjoyed reading a good book and talking about her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She loved to sing, had a wonderful sense of humor, and always had a good story to tell. She shared many stories about the adventures of the Murphy sisters, her time at Notre Dame Academy in Roxbury, MA, and the fun times she had at the beach in Osterville, MA. Her most memorable days included spending the day at the beach or on her back porch surrounded by nature.

Trish was predeceased by her brother John and her eldest sister Sheila Murphy Nowick. She is survived by two sons, Kenneth “Casey” Burgess, Jr., and his wife MariaAnna of Port Chester, NY, and Michael Burgess of Brookfield, CT; her daughter Kathleen Burgess of Bethel, CT; four grandchildren Mary, Jack, Sydney, and Madison; her sister Mary “Peggy” Murphy Paiva, and many nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held on 11/6.
