Michael P. Franzese, age 66 of Bethel, CT, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021 in New York University Hospital in Manhattan, NY. He was the husband of Evelyn (D’Alessio) Franzese.
Michael was born March 25, 1954 in the Bronx, NY, a son of the late Michael P. and Virginia (Benevento) Franzese. He attended Mount Carmel Elementary School and Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx before going on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in American History and Education from Manhattan College and his Master’s degree in American History from Hofstra University.
Michael was employed as an Executive at IBM for 38 years before retirement. During his career, Michael traveled extensively throughout North and South America, Europe, and Asia.
In addition to his wife, Evelyn, Michael is survived by: his son Michael F. Franzese, his daughter Christina (Franzese) Moran, his son-in-law Sean Moran, and his sister Donna Franzese.
Michael was known to be a very kind and generous person with an outgoing, upbeat personality and an indomitable spirit. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and he was a food and wine aficionado. He also enjoyed reading, traveling, sports, American history, classic movies, collecting comic books, and listening to the golden oldies.
Above all, Michael regarded his family as both the most important part of his life and his greatest achievement. He often said that the happiest days of his life were his wedding day and the births of his two children.
The family will receive family and friends in the Bethel Funeral Home 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, CT on Monday, March 15, 2021 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in the Church of Saint Patrick, 169 Black Rock Turnpike, Redding, CT. Entombment will be in the Our Lady Queen of Peace Mausoleum at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 West Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY, at 1:30 pm.
