Obituary

Marilyn Ann (Mylchreest) McAleavey, age 76, of Bethel, CT died Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at River Glen Health Care Center, Southbury. She was the wife of Gerald P. McAleavey.

She was born in Hartford, CT, May 5, 1946, daughter of the late George Dudly and Laura Emily (Chapman) Mylchreest, and was a graduate of Hartford College of Music with a Bachelor’s Degree. Before her retirement she was the head of the Music Department at Wooster School in Danbury and was the Choir Director and Church Secretary at Bethel United Methodist Church.

Marilyn and Gerald were married 53 plus years and raised 3 sons: Stephen A. McAleavey and his wife Mary Grace, Timothy G. McAleavey and his companion Cassie Cooper, Christopher T. McAleavey and his wife Kristin;  8 grandchildren: Laura, Andrew, Emily, George, Aedan, Raegan, Nora & Henry; Brother: Don Mylchreest and Sister: Vorrey Chapman Mylchreest.

A Graveside service was held at Elmwood Cemetery, Bethel, CT, Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 11:00 AM. There were no calling hours.
