Mariano Riccardi Obituary

Mariano Riccardi, 88 of Bethel, CT passed away peacefully at Danbury Hospital on March 25, 2021 surrounded by family.

Mario was born in Corinaldo, Ancona, Italy on December 2, 1932, the son of the late Ivo and Natala Riccardi. Mario was predeceased by his brother Ivo and sister, Fulvia Betti.

Mario immigrated to the United States in 1956 to Ridgefield, CT where he met his wife Patricia Leal Brown. (deceased) They had four children, Donna Cyr (Roger), Ivo (Alberta), Timo (Dawn) and Christopher (Tara). He was also predeceased by his second wife, Mary DeGrazia Riccardi, he leaves two stepdaughters Judy Schoonmaker (Karl) and Priscilla Parzuchowski (Don).  Together, they had twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.  He also leaves his cousin Natalie Serfilippi and many nieces and nephews.

Mario worked for the Morganti Construction Company for many years until his retirement.  After his retirement, Mario worked for the Town of Ridgefield for an additional ten years.

Mario became a proud American citizen in 2006.  He was also a long-time member of the Italian American Mutual Aid Society Club in Ridgefield and Amerigo Vespucci Lodge 160 in Danbury, CT.  

He was an avid fan of soccer and an excellent cook.  Mario was happiest in the kitchen cooking for family and friends.  Gardening was also one of his passions.

The family extends their gratitude to the Danbury Davita Dialysis Unit and to the staff at Danbury Hospital for their compassionate care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Bethel, CT Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 10:00 AM.  A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
