Julie Barrows, a long time New Milford resident, passed away at home on January 16, 2022. She was 77 years and the widow of Jordan Barrows.
Julie was the daughter of Nancy Noble Blackman and Gerald Blackman. She is survived by her sister Sarah Blackman Peck of Long Island, NY and her three children, Jeanette Barrows of Connecticut, James Barrows of Connecticut, and Charles Barrows of Indiana, and three grandchildren Sarah LaSagna of Maine and Ethan and Jorie Barrows of Indiana.
Julie attended Danbury High School, graduating in the class of 1962. She further attended college at Western Connecticut State University, graduating with a Bachelors in History in 1981. She followed her passion for history and served as a curator for the New Milford Historical Society collaborating on the reprinting of Orcott’s History of New Milford in 1976. She was long standing member of the Roger Sherman Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and spent many hours contributing information and photographs to several genealogy databases. She also enjoyed gardening and flower arranging and was a member of the Garden Club of New Milford.
A graveside service is planned for the spring. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the New Milford Animal Welfare Society where Julie found some of her cherished companions, or a charity of your choice.
