Judith Albin Obituary

August 29, 2022 Judith C. Albin of Weston was reunited with her childhood sweetheart and beloved husband, Ernest, in heaven.  Judy was born in Pittsburgh, PA on June 4, 1934 and moved with her family to Rowayton, CT where she lived for most of her childhood.  She and Ernie’s courtship began in 8th grade with their first date at a girl scout square dance and from there they shared their lives though 53 years of marriage.

Judy graduated Norwalk High School in 1952 and went on to Connecticut Teacher’s College studying elementary education for 2 years.  She always had a talent for art and was encouraged to pursue this talent which took her to Oberlin College where she continued for another year learning the arts.

Following college Judy worked a variety of jobs in the mechanical illustration field.  She and Ernie married in 1957 and they moved to San Diego, CA where Ernie was stationed in the Navy.  When they started a family in 1958 they moved back to Norwalk and eventually settled in Weston, CT in 1960.  They were offered an old family farmhouse built in 1861 that became her favorite place to be.  In 1967, after her third child, Judy was employed in the Weston School system which became her most rewarding job.  She loved to work with children.  She started as the lunchroom monitor and moved on to offer special help in both reading and math to elementary students for many years.  She was truly beloved by both the kids and staff.

Judy was also a passionate and talented artist.  She created her art in many forms using a variety of mediums throughout her entire life.  Whether it was watercolors on display in the community, notecards to send to friends and family or a sketch for her grandchildren to color, she loved to create!  Her eye for details and the ability to capture images she saw in everyday objects and then create them in art were amazing.  Luckily we have many examples of her passion for art to remember her forever.

Judy was involved in other activities as well.  She was a long time member at Norfield Congregational Church in Weston singing in the choir for a number of years and helping at the annual church fair.  Judy also served both as a trustee and a deacon later on at the church.  She so loved the music there.  Judy volunteered at the Weston Historical Society where she and Ernie led tours of school children though the Coley House. They were able to bring back some of the history of Weston for the kids in a truly enjoyable way.

Judy was pre-deceased by her adored husband Ernest Albin Jr., her son Ernest Albin III, her mother Dorothy Morrison, her father Alexis Anderson, Jr. and her sister Gail Mohr.  She is survived by her brother Robert (Molly) Eisenberg of TX and her daughter Lorraine (Dean) Miklovich of ME and her son David (Deborah) Albin of Bethel and many grand and great-grand children!

Judy lived a very active life, a life full of love for her family and her community.  Judy’s light will continue to shine on through the legacy of her artwork and her family who loved her dearly.
