Jose L. Gonzalez

Jose (Louie) Luis Gonzalez passed away suddenly on April 9, 2020, he was 73 years old. Louie was born to Maria Louisa Galindez and Anicasio Gonzalez in Piedras Rio, Puerto Rico on July 19, 1946. Louie grew up in Manhattan, New York.  After graduating from Automotive High School, Mr. Gonzalez enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in 1965. Louie served in Vietnam and was Honorably discharged as a Corporal in 1968. Upon returning home from Vietnam Louie began his career as a Master Mechanic with the Ford Motor Company in the Bronx, NY which he worked for until 2003. Louie then worked for Dodge Motor Company until 2005. From 2005 until his retirement in 2016 he was a beloved school bus driver with SuperTrans Bus Company in Yonkers, New York.  On November 8, 1969 he married his sweetheart Gladys Maya. The two just finished celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this past November with their family and friends.

Louie is predeceased by his parents Maria and Anicasio Gonzalez, his brother Jose Ramon Gonzalez and brother John Gonzalez.  Louie his survived by two siblings Victor Gonzalez and Nancy of Florida and Doris Pena and Larry of Long Island, NY. Louie is a beloved father to daughter: Vanessa Gonzalez and Stephanie Hernandez of Bronx, NY; Son: Jose Luis Jr. and Lauren Gonzalez and grandson Damien of Yonkers, NY; Son: David and Judy Gonzalez with grandsons Christian, Daniel and Justin of New Milford, CT; and Son: Nick and Janet Gonzalez with grandsons Raymond and Nick. Louie is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Louie was a generous and selfless man who would give you the shirt off his back. He was a comedian and yet a man whose character could not be replicated whose virtues and devotion to his family and friends was unprecedented. To know him was to love him and he will never be forgotten.

A celebration of life will take place at a future date.
