Jane Scott Burner, 90 of Redding, CT and formerly of Scotch Plains, NJ died suddenly on Sunday July 4th. She was the wife of Robert Avery Burner for 60 years.
She was born July 14,1930 in Plainfield, NJ and graduated from The Hartridge School in Plainfield. She received her bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA. Jane was an active member of the Cresent Avenue Presbyterian Church and Junior League, both in Plainfield and the Garden Club of America. At Meadow Ridge for the past 12 years, Jane volunteered on the Scholarship Committee, Grounds Committee, Library Committee, and Country Store. Jane and her family spent summers throughout her life at their multi-generational Adirondack camp on Indian Lake, N.Y. She is remembered for her intelligence, curiosity, love of knitting, gardening, nature and reading.
She is survived by her daughter Katharine Rice and husband L. Sanford Rice III, son Bradley Scott Burner and wife Linda Detwiler, grandchildren Dorothy S. Rice and husband Travis Miecnikowski, Bradley Rice and Penelope Burner, and husband Justin Kravick.
