Irving S. Kaufman, 97, of Danbury passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday June 2, 2021. He was the husband of Charlotte Rumbaugh Kaufman.
Irving was born August 5, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY, a son of the late Benjamin and Anna Kaufman. He was a WWII veteran and served in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Europe on D-Day. Irving was employed as the manager of the furniture department and also worked in the audio/visual department at Caldor for many years before retiring at age 65. Irving was a member of the VFW Post 399 in Westport, CT and the former Neptune Boat Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family, smoking cigars, bus trips to Mohegan Sun Casino and coupon shopping at ShopRite. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a kind and gentle soul and he will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife, Charlotte, he is survived by three daughters; Margaret Kaufman Jenkins, Charlene Foy, and Charlotte Foy, a granddaughter Christina Joan Jenkins, and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a son, Marc, and two daughters, Beth Ellen and Amy Jo from a previous marriage. Irving is predeceased by his brother Harold Kaufman and son-in-law James F. Jenkins.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at Hull Funeral Home (60 Division St., Danbury) Saturday, June 12, 2021, from 12 noon until 2:00 PM.
