George Sterling Simons, a 50 year resident of Redding, CT died February 21, 2020 in Danbury, CT.
He was born April 5, 1948 in Pittston, PA and attended Syracuse University before enlisting in the U.S. Navy at the height of the Vietnam War. In a post-service career, that spanned more than three decades, he was a pioneer in the telecom industry. At MCI, Winstar and later as a consultant, he was known as an innovator and problem solver. Many former associates have said that they continued to apply his principles in their subsequent endeavors.
George is survived by his wife Elaine, her children Jami and Todd Wesner, his nephews, Brian and Michael Watkins, and three grandchildren, Melissa, Cole and Connor. His is also sorely missed by his beloved Airedale dogs.
Innichment with military honors will be held at Indian Gap National Cemetery in Annville, PA on Friday, March 6 2020 at 11:00 am. A memorial Service will be held in Connecticut at a date and time to be announced.
