Francis Keegan Obituary

Francis Scott Keegan, lovingly known by many as Scott, passed peacefully and with dignity at Yale Smilow Cancer Center surrounded by family on June 17, 2024.

Scott was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey on February 3, 1961 to Michael and Marilyn Keegan. Scott graduated from Bethel High School in 1979 and attended Eastern Connecticut State University. After college, Scott started on a four-decade career in the home improvement industry. Since 1988, Scott has been a pioneer in the industry, challenging all those around him to seek greatness and encourage growth. We will all remember Scott as a titan in his industry who led with heart to create cutting-edge products that most still enjoy to this day.

Although Scott was proud of his business accomplishments and the hard work he demonstrated over the course of his life, those accomplishments paled in comparison to the pride he felt when talking about his daughters, Ally and Andie. Scott was a man of few words but the love and pride he felt for his daughters was evident. When the girls were young Scott coined the phrase, “The A Team” referring to his girls, Ally and Andie. “The A Team” is lovingly embroidered on a tote bag that is still used today. Even though Scott worked long hours building his successful businesses, he made time to attend parent-teacher conferences, school events, basketball games, and endless horse shows to support his daughters. Scott was always there for his girls, always steady and sure in his love and support. The example he set for them as little girls helped to form the women they are today. They say that there are two lasting gifts that a parent can give to their children. One is roots, and the other is wings. Ally and Andie were gifted strong roots and the freedom to find their wings. Scott was so proud to be their dad and they are equally proud to have had him as their dad for as long as they did. He will always be remembered by them as the loving, laughing, steadfast father that could always put a smile on their face, no matter what. There is never enough time but the time they had together will provide loving memories to last a lifetime.

With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Scott, a true friend and beacon of light, who departed from this world at an early age. Scott walked through life with strength, touching the lives of everyone he encountered with an unforgettable style. To say Scott was an amazing father, brother, son, uncle, godfather and friend to all would be an understatement. Scott was truly once-in-a-lifetime who leaves behind a legacy nothing short of warmth and kindness.

Scott was predeceased by his father, Michael E. Keegan, and his brother, Michael P. Keegan. He is survived by his mother Marilyn Keegan of Bethel, his wife Hang Liu of Bethel, his two sisters Denise Hartman of Vermont, and Deidre Hook (Eddie) of Bethel alongside his two daughters Ally and Andie Keegan of San Diego and their mother, Carrie Keegan.

The family will receive friends at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, Thursday evening from 5:00 to 8:00.
