Fayolene W. Ballard ("Faye"), 92, of New Milford, CT, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023. She was the widow of Robert M. Ballard ("Bob" also "Buffalo").
Faye was predeceased by her parents, Chester and Barbara Willis, her brother Vernon Willis, sisters Beverly Willis, Barbara O'Connell, Shirley Massena, Doris Tillman, and Virginia Beck. She is survived by her children; Deborah Delaventura, Robert T. Ballard ("Buffalo"),Lise- Marie Foxx and Wendy J. Ballard, also her grandchildren: Antonio (Andy) Dispensa (wife Cailin), Christina (Chrissy) Dispensa and RoseMarie Dispensa (Rosi). Faye also leaves behind two great-grandchildren Miles and Lucia as well as several nieces and nephews.
Faye grew up in Brookfield, CT and was a 1948 graduate of Danbury High School. She attended the Hartford Regional Technical School, graduating in May 1952. She was an LPN (licensed practical nurse). After retiring from nursing, Faye held a variety of jobs where she could interact with the public, including Taylor's Cleaners and TJ Maxx.
Faye married Bob Ballard in 1959 and moved to the Northville section of New Milford where they raised their four children. The couple enjoyed camping and playing cards with family and friends. Faye often won those games which earned her the nickname "Foxie" from her husband. She loved birds, elves, and teddy bears. Faye was a wonderful and talented baker. Her homemade bread was loved by all. Known to neighbors and her children's friends as "Mrs. B.", Faye also enjoyed puzzles, knitting, coloring, Bingo, polka music, sewing, and Penny Auctions. Daffodils were her favorite flower.
Faye was an active member of Saint Andrew's Church in Marble Dale, CT for 60 years, singing in the choir, being coffee hour hostess, and chairing many fundraisers through the years. She was always willing to give her time and talents to the church.
A memorial service for Faye will be held Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Saint Andrew's in Marble Dale at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow in the parish hall. Burial will be at the Northville cemetery and will be private, at the discretion of the family.
In lieu of flowers, mourners are asked to make a donation to the charity of their choice in Faye's name.
