Eleanor Marie (Tucker) Hanzelko

Eleanor M. Hanzelko, age 97, widow of Robert J. Hanzelko Sr. passed away peacefully at Danbury Hospital on August 12, 2023. 

Eleanor was born February 9, 1926, in Fairfield, CT, and was a long time resident of Bethel, CT. She worked for many years at Heli Coil in Danbury, CT, and then at Bob’s Stores as a dressing room attendant until she officially retired at 86 years old.

Eleanor loved having conversations with people, going to the casino, dancing, coffee, and watching her UCONN Girls' Basketball. Known to her family lovingly as Ellie, Moie, GG, and Yellie, she will be deeply missed and always remembered as one who loved unconditionally and would always be there for her family. 

Eleanor is survived by her son, Robert J. Hanzelko Jr., her daughters, Beverly Gonzalez (Alex) and Cheryl Varian (Francis); her grandchildren Kimberly Sokoloski, Jason Cade, Jenilee Valencia (Ricardo), and Shana Varian; her four great-grandchildren, Jackson Sokoloski, Sophia Sokoloski, Cali Valencia, and Adison Valencia; along with her many nieces and nephews. Eleanor is predeceased by her husband, Robert J. Hanzelko Sr., and her sisters Evelyn Sebestyen and Dorothy Sebestyen.

Memorial services will be held at Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel, Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 9-11 am.  Burial at her final resting place will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Bethel.
