Eleanor Giardino Obituary

Eleanor Tingen Giardino, beloved wife of Lloyd Giardino, died peacefully on January 26, 2023 at Danbury Hospital. Eleanor was born on September 7, 1937 in Ithaca, NY, the daughter of the late Earnest Tingen and Mary Howarth.

Eleanor is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Lloyd Giardino; daughter Susan Visscher and her husband Andy of Piscataway, NJ; son Lloyd III and his wife Jean of Brookfield, CT; son John and his wife Donna Forshaw of Redding, CT; grandchildren Gavin, Audrey, Claire; sister Marion McGovern of Zephyrhills, FL and several nieces and nephews. Eleanor was pre-deceased by her sister Laura Zaharatos.

Eleanor was a graduate of Bayport High School in Long Island. After several years working at Brookhaven National Laboratory, Eleanor welcomed being able to become a full-time mother. A long-time resident of Redding, CT she enjoyed gardening, canning, crossword puzzles and seeing her children and grandchildren flourish. Eleanor was also the long-time District Commissioner for the Lonetown Pony Club and an avid member of the Redding Country Club.

A celebration of life will be held in the springtime. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Palliative Care Center at Danbury Hospital.
