Eileen P. Zemko, 76, of Bethel, CT passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at Putnam Hospital Saturday, February 24, 2024. She succumbed of complications from Parkinson’s Disease.
Born in Manhattan, Eileen was the only child and pride and joy of Erwin Seemann, a machinist, and Helen (Winters) Seemann, a loving homemaker. She attended St. Jean Baptiste High School and earned an Associate’s Degree in Business from Bronx Community College before working as an Assistant Manager at Alexander’s Department store.
Eileen moved to Bethel in 1980 where she dedicated her life to her three sons and their education. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Eileen’s passion was understanding and recording her family’s genealogy, documenting her heritage dating back over a dozen generations.
After raising her boys, Eileen re-entered the workforce, helping to open the Brookfield Costco by enrolling its first members. She continued her career at Costco as a customer service representative, making lifelong friends and taking joy in getting to know decades of customers and their families. She retired in 2019 after her Parkinson’s advanced, making it difficult for her to continue.
Eileen is survived by three sons: Erik, a portfolio manager in New York City, his wife Michelle, and sons Colin and Luke; Jason, owner of an IT Consulting Company in Santa Barbara, CA, his wife Eva, and children Ethan and Sofia; and John, an IT consultant in Fremont, CA, his wife Rachel, and son Benjamin.
The family will receive friends at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, CT, Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Cremation will be at the convenience of the family.
