Reflections of Life

On Thursday evening July 22, 2021, God came to receive His angel,

Dorothy Mae Lowe Cherry

He quietly tucked her under his wings and took her peacefully to her heavenly home.

Dorothy was born on May 2, 1933, in Bethel, North Carolina to the late James and Cattie Lowe. In 1957, Dorothy moved to Danbury, Connecticut where she married the love of her life Clarence Ervin Cherry Sr, who preceded her in death. To this union six children were born: Clarence Jr, Gregory, Victor, Timothy, Michele and Eric.

The oldest girl of seven, Dorothy always found time for her sisters and brothers who looked up to her. Dorothy graduated from Robinson Union High School in Winterville North Carolina. She was a natural beauty, always wearing a beautiful smile. She adored wearing her church hats-her Crown. She was a Virtuous Woman, who loved dressing classy and stylish from head to toe.

At a young age, she accepted Christ and was baptized at Wynn’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, in Bethel, North Carolina. In 1963, she joined her beloved Mount Pleasant A.M.E Zion Church and was a loyal and dedicated member for 58 years. She served as a member of the choir, Stewardess, a conference worker and was a Missionary. Not only was she an active member of the church she enjoyed singing and putting on her choir robe as she marched into the tune of “We Come This Far by Faith.”

Dorothy was a home maker, business owner and a 35-year dedicated employee at Amphenol of Danbury, Ct where she retired in 1998. Her favorite past time was SHOPPING! She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and traveling. She was a loyal and trusted friend loved by many.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her siblings James and Lindsey Lowe.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her amazing memories, her loving and devoted children, Clarence Jr, (Maria) of Florida, Gregory (Theola), of Virginia, Victor, of Connecticut, Timothy (Karen) of Virginia, Michele (Shannon) of North Carolina and Eric (Evie) of Connecticut. Twenty-three grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
