Diane Marie (Barago) Meade
September 12, 1952-June 26, 2022
Diane Marie Meade’s loving spirit ascended to heaven on Sunday, June 26 at Regional Hospice in Danbury, Connecticut after living with cancer for more than 20 years.
Diane grew up in Newtown, CT and graduated from Immaculate High School. She studied Liberal Arts at Mount St. Mary College and WestConn. She was an avid fan of NASCAR, Tom Petty and the Moody Blues. She enjoyed reading, vacations at the Outer Banks, North Carolina, but her grandchildren really lit up her life.
Diane had a calling to care for those in need. She participated in several mission trips to the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Reservation in South Dakota. One of Diane’s proudest accomplishments was obtaining her master's degree in Religious Education from Andover Newton Theological School in 2017. She served as Director of Christian Education for the Roxbury UCC and as a Hospice chaplain intern at VITAS Inpatient Unit at St. Mary's Hospital.
She is predeceased by her beloved parents, Mildred and John Barago. She is survived by her devoted husband Charlie of 39 years, sons Timothy Meade and his wife Laura and Diane’s beloved granddaughter Leah, son Jeffrey Meade and Diane’s beloved grandson Vincent; siblings Carolyn Ippolito and husband David, sister Terri Champagne and husband Peter, brother John Barago and wife Bonnie and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr Kert Sabbeth and his staff at Yale New Haven and the incredible team at Regional Hospice, and the countless other caregivers and medical professionals who supported her.
A celebration of life will be held at Roxbury Congregational Church on Saturday, July 2nd at 10 a.m. led by dear friend and Reverend David Peters. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Simply Smiles.
