Daniel L. Yee

Daniel L. Yee, age 61, long time resident of Newtown, CT, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2021. He is survived by his wife and soul mate of 22 years, Helen Dañosos Yee; two sisters: Jane Yee (and husband Roger McNew) and Alma Yee; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Yee; two nieces: Mia Conway and Sabrina McNew; and one nephew, Timothy Yee. Dan was predeceased by his parents, May and Bing Yee, his brother, Doling Yee, and his brother-in-law, John Conway.  He is also survived by his extended family, many friends, co-workers, car-pool mates, choir members, and tennis partners; Dan was loved by all.

Dan was a great sports fan and an avid tennis player. He and his wife, Helen, traveled all over the country and to Canada to see his beloved NY Yankees play; and they attended the US Open annually. Dan and Helen traveled extensively and loved visiting new places and eating great food.   

Dan loved to sing. He was a faithful parishioner as a member of Saint Mary Parish and sang in the choir for 37 years. He also sang with the Connecticut Master Chorale since its inception in 1999. His participation in the Chorale took him to Carnegie Hall and the White House.

Dan studied computer science at Rutgers University and the Polytechnic Institute of New York University. He had a 40-year career at IBM as a software engineer for the Transaction Processing Facility (z/TPF) division.  He was committed to reducing traffic and saving the environment through carpooling.  He had an incredible memory for dates and trivia, especially all things baseball.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 23 at 10:00 AM at Saint Mary Parish, 26 Dodgingtown Rd, Bethel, CT.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, at the Bethel Funeral Home 215, Greenwood Ave, Bethel, CT.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Saint Mary Parish in Bethel.
