Christopher J. Cosden of Bethel, CT (formerly of Darien, CT) died suddenly on February 14, 2021 at the age of 53. Chris, known as Coz to his friends, was a 1985 graduate of Darien High School. In 1991 he graduated from Western Colorado University receiving a BA in English and Journalism. At Western Chris served as editor of the literary review publication Mountain Thought, was a columnist for the student newspaper Top of the World and editor of the college yearbook.
After graduating from college, Chris worked for Online, Inc. in Wilton, CT as Director of Information Technology editing several magazines related to the electronic information industry including Online, Database and CD-ROM. As the Internet developed in the early years he later worked for Internet.com of Westport and Darien and became Senior Director of Online Operations at Jupiter media, a successor company.
Chris loved skiing and won several racing medals at Okemo mountain in Vermont and took his skiing skills with him to Mount Crested Butte in Gunnison, Colorado. In addition to skiing, he had a lifelong love of sailing and cruising with his family, and he was eager to see his daughter develop her own sailing passion.
He was an avid cinephile, loved music and loved playing games of all kinds. Chris was an ardent environmentalist and harbored an entrepreneurial spirit first discovered in junior high school when Chris, “The Candyman” would purchase the popular candies of the time at Stoler’s and resell them to fellow students for profit.
The most important thing in Chris’s life was his daughter, Autumn of whom he was so proud. He continually boasted about her academic accomplishments and her love of music and singing, as well as her creativity and their shared love of movies and cooking.
Chris is survived by his daughter, Autumn Cosden, of Bethel. He is also survived by his sister, Jeanette C. Gann, her husband, David Gann and niece, Quinn Gann of Juneau, Alaska. He is also survived by his parents, Theresa and Edward Cosden of New Canaan, CT, and his former wife, Genee Cosden-West of Bethel, Connecticut.
