Carolyn Contra Wagner, age 91, died Tuesday, May 10 in Danbury.
Carolyn was born August 19, 1930 in Bronx, NY. She was the daughter Helen (Czako) and Albert Contra. She was a graduate of Christopher Columbus High School, Bronx, NY and from Western Connecticut State University (formerly Danbury State Teachers College) with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1952. She was predeceased by brother Lt. Colonel Albert Contra.
Carolyn married the late Neil Edward Wagner in August of 1952.
Carolyn is survived by two daughters Beth Ann Fetzer of Newtown and Melanie C. Ohrem (Paul) of New Canaan, CT; three grandchildren Samantha (Crawford) Hamilton, Patrick (Emily) Ohrem and Daniel Ohrem; along with three greatgrandchildren, Piper Hamilton, Hart Hamilton and Gunnar Ohrem.
Carolyn taught second grade at Roberts Avenue School in Danbury and was a substitute teacher for many years in Danbury. She was a founding member of First Congregational Church Deer Hill Avenue Thrift Shop and an active member of the Danbury/New Fairfield Women’s Club for many years.
There will be no calling hours. Burial will be private.
