Bruce Joseph DeShay,76, beloved husband of the late Joyce DeShay, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2023 at Norwalk Hospital.
Bruce was born in Binghamton, NY to the late William and Dorothy DeShay.
Before retiring in 2013 he worked as the executive secretary at the Association of Electrical Contractors in New York City, NY and previously worked at NECA. He also made a significant impact to many as a Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton, NY.
Upon his retirement Bruce enjoyed spending time with his family and was a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed vacationing, playing poker with his friends, and shopping with Joyce at Macy’s. His qualities of kindness, sensitivity and generosity will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his four children, Michael and his wife Jamie of Niceville, FL: Jeffery and his wife Angel of Cranberry Township, PA, Derek and his wife Tammy of Newburgh, NY and Brett and his wife Laura of Newtown, CT. He is also survived by his brother David DeShay and wife Christine of Stamping Ground, KY, sister-in-law Marie Koch of Johnson City, NY; sister-in-law Patricia Barno of Binghamton, NY; as well as his five grandchildren Emma, Bryce, Riley, Fiona, and Tyler and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 53 years Joyce DeShay, brother-in-law James Barno, brother-in-law Wayne Koch and grandson Dylan DeShay.
