Alice M. (Long) Gegeny

Alice Mary (Long) Gegeny, age 83, of New Fairfield, CT, died Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Danbury Hospital. She was the widow of Dr. Thomas Paul Gegeny.

She was born in Queens, NY, daughter of the late Lawrence E. and Alice (Fuess) Long. Her 30+ year career as a nurse at Danbury Hospital was a source of great pride for her. In fact, at the time of her retirement, she was Research Coordinator for cardiology and oversaw major clinical trials at the Danbury Hospital site, such as the TIMI 9A study: https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/epdf/10.1161/01.CIR.90.4.1624. 

Alice is survived by her brother, Lawrence Long of New Brunswick, ME, as well as her 4 children and 2 grandchildren: son Thomas and husband Daniel Lopes of Bridgeport, CT; daughter Theresa, her husband Michael Blasi, and grandson Michael of Hartsdale, NY; son Mark, wife Marie (Gonzalez), and granddaughter Taylor of New Fairfield; and son Joseph of Ansonia, CT.  She is preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Beth Miller. She also has a son, Keith L. Miller, of Newtown, CT, and grandson, Keith L. Miller jr. of Dover Plains, NY.

A graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Bethel, CT on Monday, March 21, 2022 at 12:30 PM.

The family will receive friends and visitors at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, on Monday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, prior to leaving for the cemetery.
