William Clinton Blatchley

William Clinton Blatchley was born to Clinton and Laura Blatchley on July 19, 1938.   His early years were spent in East Haven, CT, summering in Madison, CT. His three degrees in chemical engineering from MIT prepared him for his work as a corporate environmental manager.  His U.S. Army duty consisted of chemical and nuclear testing in Maryland and Nevada, and earned him rank of 1st Lieutenant.

Bill was an avid boating enthusiast, having built his first boat at age 10.  His boat travels have been between New Jersey and Maine, and he loved being on Long Island Sound.  He earned the top rank of Senior Navigator in the US Power Squadron.

He is survived by his sister, Judith Blatchley of Cambridge, MA.  He has two children, both adopted as Korean orphans. Susan, who is married to Ken Gilstrap, lives in Dallas, TX.  David lives with his wife, Julie, in Gardner, MA.

In 2003 he married Mary Lynn Windsor of Mount Kisco, NY.  She has two daughters, Julie Windsor Mitchell (Ian) of Evanston, IL and Kerri Lynn Colombo (Carlo) of Brookfield, CT, and four grandchildren, Connor, Brendan, Ashley and Allison.

Services will be held at the Congregational Church of Brookfield.  Interment will be at East Lawn Cemetery, East Haven, CT. Please contact the family for details.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Goodspeed Opera House, East Haddam, CT.
