Stanley Daniels Jr., formerly of Bethel, CT, currently a resident of Kulpmont, PA, died January 1, 2019 after a difficult progression of Alzheimer’s Disease. Stanley was born May 31, 1935, son of the late Stanley and Pearl Walsh Daniels. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. During this time, he assisted pilots in surveillance and reconnaissance missions. He attended Penn State University and was employed in the engineering field, with a long career at IBM, transitioning to Bethel to raise their family.
Stan was a family man, who thoroughly enjoyed his time with his children and grandchildren. The countless hours he volunteered coaching baseball, were given freely, and he was rewarded with many friendships and a multitude of entertaining stories. He was the penultimate super fan of his children and grandchildren, attending everything that was feasibly possible.
He would like to be remembered as a notorious card counter, but alas we should not embellish. He was a gentle giant who was happiest behind the scenes, needing no recognition. His smile was contagious.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joan Lubeski Daniels, his children, Ken and Susan (Carello) Daniels of Essex, CT, Scott and Patty (McCormick) Daniels of Bethel, CT, Kathi Jo Hathaway and her husband John, of Skillman, NJ, and his grandchildren, Calvin, Lucy, Roman, William, Francesca, Lilly Daniels, and Annie Hathaway. A sister Mary Seroskie of Ranshaw, PA, also survives him.
Flowers would be lost on this selfless man, if one feels the need to do something, your time or donation, would be better served in the area of Alzheimer’s Awareness and/or Research.
The family will receive friends at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, CT on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 12:00-3:00 PM.
