Irene E. (Heyde) O'Donnell

Irene Elizabeth (Heyde) O’Donnell, age 92 of Danbury, CT died Monday, July 9, 2018 in Brookfield. 

She was born in Danbury, October 25, 1925, daughter of the late Albert J. and Irene M. (Schullery) Heyde. Irene worked at the Barden Corporation in Danbury for 46 years and was a life-long Member of the First Congregational Church of Danbury. She was a member of AARP #1847, a member of the Danbury Senior Center at Elmwood Park and the Quilting Club. In her youth she was a member of the Rainbow Girls. She also volunteered with Ann’s Place, the City Hall and the Cancer Society. Irene enjoyed craftwork, knitting and crocheting, gardening and participated in the 2014 Hats for School Children. She continued to crochet hats for needy children for many years.

Irene is survived by her son: Brian Edward O’Donnell of Brookfield, CT; sister-in-law: Florence Heyde of KY; nieces: Lynn Fichtel and her husband William of Roxbury, CT, Susan Wanger and her husband Raymond of PA, Karen Kubica and her husband Richard of Glastonbury, CT; Nephews: Kevin Heyde and his wife Brenda of KY and David Heyde and his wife Kathleen of AZ. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers: Albert and his wife Cappy, William and his wife Agnes, and Elmer Heyde; her nephew: Wayne Heyde.

A private family graveside service for the burial of her ashes will be held at Wooster Cemetery, Danbury in the fall. There are no calling hours. Hull Funeral Home, 60 Division St., Danbury is handling arrangements.
