Gertrude (Singer) Kellenberger, age 93, of Bethel, CT, died Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Danbury Hospital with her family at her side. She was the widow of Albert Kellenberger who died on February 25, 2005.
She was born in Lindau, Germany, on September 1, 1924, daughter of the late Peter and Jacobean (Friedl) Singer. She came to the United States at the age of 6 and settled in New York City with her family. She has been a resident of Bethel since 1982. Gertrude was a longtime employee of the Union Pen and Pencil Company in Greenwich. She was a member of the Bethel Senior Center, where she was an avid knitter making hats and baby blankets. She was a big fan of the New York Yankees and also loved watching the UConn Huskies women’s basketball team.
Gertrude is survived by her daughters: Janet Gaulard of Southbury, CT, Barbara Donaghy and her husband Patrick of Bethel; 6 grandchildren: Karen Hurd, Joseph Gaulard, Thomas Gaulard and his wife Allison, Robert Gaulard, Roger Donaghy and his wife Anne and Lauren Donaghy; and 6 great grandchildren: Alec, Anna and Alissa Hurd, Claire and Jase Gaulard and Calvin Donaghy. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brothers: John and Edward Singer.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary Church, Bethel, Friday, March 16, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury. There are no calling hours.
