George Wright, 90, a longtime resident of Ridgefield, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 20, 2018.
He was born in Greenwich, CT on August 23, 1927, the son of the late George and Helen (Gardella) Wright. He was a WW II Navy Veteran, driving troops in a landing craft.
“Big George” was a lifelong truck driver who enjoyed owning his own rig. He enjoyed RV cross country traveling and visiting different states with his wife and spending winters in Florida. He loved animals especially his cat Snowball, country music, talking to anyone who would listen. He was known for his cowboy boots and hat.
He is survived by his children: Linda and husband Marc Knapp of Bethel, Michael of Ridgefield and Suzanne and husband Ron Ellis of Brookfield. He was predeceased in 2013 by his wife: Antoinette Wright and in 1995 by his son: George Wright III. He was also predeceased by sisters: Frances, Eleanor and brother: John.
The family would like to thank his care giver Joe Visciglia. Also, to the doctors, nurses, aides and palliative care team at Danbury Hospital for their great care.
The family will receive friends at Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave, Bethel, Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Burial will be private.
