Addison Havens Obituary

Addison L. Havens

July 23, 1939 – June 14, 2018

Addison L. Havens, 78, of Sherman, CT passed away at home on June 14th.  He was born in Danbury, CT on July 23, 1939 to Lester and Ruthie Havens.  He was raised in New Fairfield, married Carol Lee Enck in 1963 and moved to Sherman in 1974.

After graduating at the top of his class from Abbot Tech in Danbury, he began a long career as a builder and was well known for his quality workmanship and strong work ethic.  Some of his favorite projects were the Sherman Post Office, the steeple at the playhouse and the homes for all of his children.  He is also remembered for his pair of civil war replica cannons which have been part of local Memorial Day and Independence Day celebrations for decades.  When he wasn’t working he enjoyed taking meticulous care of the vegetable garden and grounds of the homestead, creating furniture and cabinetry, watching the stock car races and having the family around on the weekends.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol Lee (Enck); his daughter Audrey Day and husband Dave; his daughter Alice Wilkinson and husband John and his son Daniel and wife Stephanie; and his grandchildren Emily, Jack, James and Tommy Day and Jake, Everett and Sadie Wilkinson.

Calling hours will be held at the Colonial Funeral Home (Hulls) in 87 Park Lane New Milford on Tuesday June 19th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. A graveside funeral will be private
