Virgilio I. Gonzales, age 84 of Danbury, CT passed away August 2, 2016 at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Maria Corazon J. Gonzales.
Mr. Gonzales was born on March 13, 1932 in the Philippines, a son of the late Arsenio and Consuelo Gonzales. He was a graduate of the University of the Philippines. He immigrated to the United States in 1979 and has been a resident of Danbury, CT since 1982. Mr. Gonzales was employed as a chemist for Boehringer Ingelheim in Ridgefield, CT for 16 years before retiring in 1995. He was an active and beloved member of the Filipino American Association of Western CT. Mr. Gonzales is the author of Waiting for General McArthur published in 2014 and Let Freedom Ring, published in 2016.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Gonzales is survived by two sons; Arsenio Gonzales of Danbury, CT and Virgilio Gonzales II of Meriden, CT; a daughter, Leilani Gonzales of Danbury, CT; two brothers Umberto Gonzales and Dr. Cesar Gonzales of Quincy, MA; three sisters Celia and Lydia and Gonzales of the Philippines, Cora Gonzales of Canada and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends in the Hull Home 60 Division Street, Danbury, Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated in St. Joseph’s Church, Danbury, on Monday at 10:00 AM.
