Seeley H. Powley, Jr.

March 11, 1940 ~ May 8, 2016 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Seeley H. Powley of Bethel, CT, the loving father of Christine, Jennifer and Tom, passed away in his home on May 8, 2016, at the age of seventy-six.

Seeley was born in Port Chester, New York on March 11, 1940, son of the late Seeley H. and Angela B. Powley, and an identical twin of the late Peter C. Powley.

Seeley grew up in Mahopac, NY and went on to graduate from Loyola College with a degree in business. He served in the US Army in Fort Campbell, KY, from 1963 through 1965 and moved to Bethel in 1985.  After the service, Seeley worked as a salesmen for Olivetti, Avery Labels, and Impressions Paper and Supply until retirement.

Seeley was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church and also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree.   He enjoyed playing golf, softball, and swimming.  Seeley was an avid skier and developed lifelong friendships with members of the Mogul Meister Ski Club.  He enjoyed watching competitive sports and was a former booster member of the Western Connecticut Fighting Colonials Football team.  Most importantly, Seeley was a devoted fan of the pinstripes (Go Yankees!).

Seeley is survived by his three children and their spouses: Christine (Wit) of Fuquay Varina, NC, Jennifer (Jeff) of New Hampton, NY and Tom (Robyn) of Exeter, NH.  He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Eme, Timothy, Aidan, Feehan, Chas, Reid and Caroline.

No one who ever met Seeley forgot his joyful spirit, sense of humor, and kind heart.  He was proud to call Bethel home and cherished all of his friends from St. Mary’s and The Putnam House.
