Rita M. (Pawloski) Lundebjerg

September 12, 1920 ~ June 22, 2017 (age 96) 96 Years Old

Rita Pawloski Lundebjerg, 96, died on Thursday, June 22nd, 2017 at her home in Bethel, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Frederick Lundebjerg.

Rita was born in Danbury on September 12th, 1920, daughter of the late Anthony Pawloski and Angelina Pawloski Hynes.She was a graduate of Bethel High School and also the former Danbury State Teachers College. Rita spent her entire teaching career at the Bethel Public Schools. She taught in different grades at the elementary schools, but spent most of her years in kindergarten which she loved and made a positive impact on students. She was an active member of the Post 100 of the American Legion Auxiliary in Bethel. She also was a past member of the Elks Lodge 120 of Danbury.

She is survived by two daughters: Karen M. Read and her husband Edwin of Bethel, and Susan Lundebjerg of Port Orchard, Washington; also a sister: Jeanne M. Hubbard of Bethel; Grandchildren: Leah Rafalko, Robert Rafalko, Lindsay Dacosta and her husband Pedro, Brett Read and his boyfriend Phil Ferry; as well as 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Kathy Rafalko, and a granddaughter Kelley Rafalko.

She was a devoted and caring teacher who loved her job. She also enjoyed traveling and camping but most of all spending time with family and friends. She was a devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be missed by all.

A graveside service will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bethel, CT on Thursday, June 29th, 2017 at 11:00am.
