Raymond J. Keough

Raymond J. Keough, age 92 of Bethel, CT died Wednesday, April 26, 2017. He was the husband of the late Loretta (Thomson) Keough.

Raymond was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, June 8, 1924, a son of the late Joseph and Mary Ellen (Meadows) Keough. He was very proud of his service in the army during World War II in Europe. Raymond took part in the D-Day invasion on Omaha Beach. He was a Surgical Technician with the 464th Medical Collecting Company. After the war, Raymond graduated from Providence College in 1952 and married the love of his life Loretta Thomson in 1953. They moved to Bethel in 1957, where Raymond had a long career as an insurance adjuster. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with children and grandchildren, golfing, going to Rhode Island to visit relatives and visiting with his friends at the Sycamore in Bethel. Sunday morning’s he and Robert were ushers at the 8:30 mass at St Mary Church for many years. The family appreciates the kind and compassionate care he received the past three months at Bethel Health Care, Danbury Hospital and from the Bethel Fire Department. The family would also like to thank all of Raymond’s wonderful caring neighbors.

Raymond is survived by his children, Raymond and his wife Kathleen, Nancy Kelly and her husband Tom, Robert, and Sharon Woodin and her husband Richard. He was blessed with seven grandchildren, Rosemary and Matthew Keough; Steven and Patrick Kelly; Jessica Woodin and her fiancé Matthew Berner, Amanda and Heather Woodin. He was predeceased by his brother Joseph in 2015.

Family will receive friends in the Bethel Funeral Home 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, Sunday afternoon from 2:00 until 5:00 pm 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Mary Church, Dodgingtown Rd Bethel, CT on Monday May 1, 2017 at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in St Mary Cemetery, Bethel.

In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the Bethel Volunteer Fire Department, 38 South Street, Bethel, CT 06801
