Paul Edwin Mullens, age 88, of Southbury, CT, formerly of Bethel, CT died Monday, April 24, 2017 at the Lutheran Home of Southbury. He was the husband of the late Ellen Shields (McCann) Mullens.

He was born in Stamford, CT January 18, 1929, son of the late William and Lottie (Eike) Mullens. Paul worked at the former Southern New England Telephone for 35 years before his retirement. He was an avid gardener, NY Rangers fan and loved his trips to the casino.

Paul is survived by his son: Michael J. Mullens and his wife Becky of Hartland, VT; 2 daughters: Elaine M. Reynolds and her husband William of Bethel, CT, Debra A. Hart and her partner Bo Gunning of Southbury, CT; 5 grandchildren: William, Elizabeth, David and his partner Sarah, Megan and her partner Sean, and Sarah; as well as 2 great grandchildren: Jay and Emily. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brothers and sisters.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Lutheran Home of Southbury, especially his main caregivers for the last eight years: Cathy “the boss” and Pierre.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, CT, Thursday morning at 11:00. Interment will be private.
