Patrick 'Pat" Alworth

Patrick ‘Pat’ James Alworth age 90, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his wife, two daughters and son-in-law on Saturday March 4, 2017 at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Loretta (Hoffmeister) Alworth.

 

Pat was born April 24, 1926 in Cahirciveen, County Kerry, Ireland. He was the son of the late James P.  and Nora (O’Connor) Alworth. Pat was the oldest of seven children.  Pat and his parents immigrated to the United States at the age of three and settled in Port Chester, NY. Pat attended Our Lady of Mercy Grammar School and was a graduate of Port Chester High School. He served in the United States Army. Pat was employed by the Bank of New York in White Plains, New York, where he met his wife. He enjoyed reading mystery novels, had a love for animals and was an avid fan of Notre Dame Football and San Francisco Giants baseball, also Uconn Womens’s Basketball. Pat’s favorite past time was being with his family. He was known for his quick Irish wit. Pat and Loretta moved to Bethel in 1972.

 

In addition to his wife of 47 years, Pat is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Alworth and Megan Alworth-Khazadian, son-in-law Vartan Khazadian, whom Pat considered a son. Pat is also survived by a sister Kathleen Hines, a brother Brendan Alworth and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two sisters, Mary Fitzgerald and Nora Nethercott and two brothers, James Alworth Jr. and Kevin Alworth.

 

The family would like to thank the staff at Danbury Hospital for all their love and tender care during Pat’s short stay. Even though Pat was at Meadow Ridge in Redding for four days, the staff met all his wants and needs. The family extends a special Thank You to Dr. Sean McGrade for many years of dedication.

 

Family will receive friends in the Bethel Funeral Home 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, CT on Thursday March 9, 2017 from 4 pm until 7 pm.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated in St. Mary Church, 24 Dodgingtown Rd., Bethel, CT, Friday March 10, 2017 at 10:00 am.

Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Bethel, CT
