Michael "Mick) O'Sullivan

July 20, 1940 ~ July 22, 2016 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Michael “Mick” O’Sullivan, 76, of Bethel, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Pauline and the proud father of his six children.

Michael was born in Castletownbere, Ireland on July 20th, 1940, the son of the late John and Lena O’Sullivan. He grew up in Ireland and moved to England at the age of 17 where he met his future wife Pauline. They were married on St. Patrick’s Day in 1964 and moved to the United States in 1965. They initially lived in Stratford before eventually settling in Bethel in 1968 where they raised their family.

Michael and his twin brother Leo were self-taught master builders and were long time fixtures working construction in the Danbury area. They eventually started L&M Construction and made their careers owning several rental properties.

Michael spent countless hours helping his children with their houses and found great joy in the simple pleasures in life. Michael had a wonderful sense of humor and an optimistic outlook on life. He was a caring, gentle, patient, and quite man who was loved by everyone fortunate enough to meet him. He will be fondly remembered by his family and friends as an incredibly hard worker who was always the first to help anyone in need of assistance.

Michael is survived by his wife Pauline of 52 years, his son Michael and wife Debbie of Newtown, his daughter Diana and her husband Tom (Daly) of Newtown, his son Peter of Bethel, his son David and wife Sue of Newtown, his daughter Jennifer and husband James (Litwin) of Rye, NY, and his youngest son Paul of Bethel. Michael is also survived by his 11 grandchildren Shawna, Brennan, Christopher, Kelly, Brandon, Kayla, Sean, Jameson, Kelston, Brayden, and Haylie. Additionally, Michael is survived by his sisters Carmel and Eileen, his brothers Leo, Aidan, and Tony as well as many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his sister Anita and his brother John.
