Kevin James Kennedy age 58 of Bethel, died Tuesday July 12, 2016 at Danbury Hospital. He is the husband of Eunice (Purdie) Kennedy.

Kevin was born December 6, 1957 in Waterbury, CT a son of the late Raymond James and Catherine J. (Knight) Kennedy. He grew up in Oakville and Watertown, CT and was a graduate of Scared Heart High School in Waterbury, CT. Kevin graduated from Western Connecticut State University in Danbury with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice.  He served on the Bethel Police Force for over 34 years before retiring in 2015 as a Police Lieutenant. While on the Police Force, Kevin was a founding member of the annual PBA Golf Tournament, served on the accreditation board, was a field training officer and firearms instructor. Kevin enjoyed playing golf, loved spending time with his family and was crazy about ‘his partner in crime’ his beagle Sadie.

In addition to his wife of 32 years, Kevin is survived by his son Raymond P. Kennedy of Bethel, ; his daughter Colleen E. Kennedy of Bethel; his brother David Kennedy and his wife Donna of Stratford; three sisters: Elizabeth Sharman and her husband Charles of Oxford; Kathleen Kennedy and her partner Paula Maionchi, MD, of Richmond, KY and Ann L. Kennedy of San Francisco, CA. He also leaves serval nieces and nephews and a grandniece.

A funeral service will be held in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Danbury on Saturday July 16, 2016 at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery following the service. Family will receive friends in the Bethel Funeral Home 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, on Friday from 4 pm until 7 pm.
