John B. Shepard, age 91, of Bethel, CT died Sunday, December 24, 2017 at Maplewood at Newtown. He was the husband of the late Alice May (Briggs) Shepard.

He was born in Danbury, May 10, 1926, son of the late Morton W. and Gladys (Beltaire) Shepard. He served in the Navy during World War Two in the Pacific Theater. John was an Organic Chemist working many years at Uniroyal and later at US Rubber. He was a member of the Walnut Hill Community Church in Bethel, was an avid sailor and boater and loved to build and fly model airplanes.

John is survived by his sons: John M. Shepard and his wife Theresa of New Preston, CT, David M. Shepard and his wife Joananne of Fripp Island, SC; his daughter: Mary Ellen Corbiere and her husband James of Fairfield, CT; brother: William Shepard of Denver, CO; 5 grandchildren: Joseph, Jennifer, Julianne, David & Heather and 3 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brothers: George and Morton Shepard.

A graveside service will be held at Center Cemetery, Bethel in the spring. There are no calling hours
