Joan Lee Nutting age 83 of Bethel, died in Danbury Hospital on Monday May 2, 2016. She is the wife of Alfred Richard Nutting Jr.

Joan was born September 3, 1932 in Norwalk CT a daughter of the late Francis and Claire (Atkinson) Dyer. She was a graduate of Norwalk High School, Norwalk, CT. Joan was employed as a dental assistant for Dr. Glaser and Dr. Kelly Oral Surgeons in Danbury, CT for many years retiring in 1982. After retirement she work at the Danbury Dental Clinic. Joan was an active member of the Bethel Republican Town Committee and worked with the Registrar of Voters. She was a member of the Bethel Business Women’s Association and enjoyed crocheting, baking and gardening. Joan also loved to go and see Broadway shows. Joan spent much of her life giving to and caring for others.  She loved cooking for family dinners and simply being a Grandmother. She also volunteered reading to the children in the Bethel School System 

In addition to her husband of 61 years, Joan is survived by her daughter Nancy L. Nutting of New Milford, CT; her son Alfred Richard Nutting III, and his wife Martha her two grandchildren Tyler and Alex; of Bethel, CT who loving referred to her as “Nonie”; two sisters Lyn Channey of West Hartford, CT and Arlene Dick of Frederick MD and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two brothers Ray and Richard and three sisters, Patty, Janet and Buelah.

Memorial Service will be held in Bethel United Methodist Church, Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 4:00 PM.
