Helen M. Uhlin, age 103, passed on to heaven peacefully on November 29, 2016 at the Saint John Paul II Nursing Home in Danbury, CT.  

Born in Bronx, New York on September 21, 1913, Helen was the daughter of the late Catharine (Kiefer) Lewit and Charles Lewit.  Helen is predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Harold Uhlin, and her daughter Dianne (Uhlin) Weeks. 

Helen will be sadly missed by her children, Jane (Uhlin) Sweeney and her husband David of Patterson, NY, Harold Uhlin and his wife Judy of Homosassa, FL, Susan (Uhlin) Geier and her husband John of Bethel, CT, and James Uhlin of Crystal Lake, IL.  

Helen is also survived by her 12 loving grandchildren, Kathleen (Weeks) Breksa and her husband Kevin, John J. Geier, Patricia (Weeks) Antonetti and her husband Danny, David Sweeney and his wife Kim, Christopher Geier and his wife Michele, Daniel Sweeney and his wife Kory, Janice (Uhlin) Rowe and her husband Tim, John Palmer, Laura (Geier) Landau, Heather (Palmer) Blackburn and her husband Martin, Donald Sweeney and his wife Abby, and Kristen Uhlin, and by her 29 great-grandchildren, as well as her many nieces and nephews.

Helen was a long-time resident of Scarsdale, NY, but spent her later years residing with each of her daughters in Kissimmee, FL, Patterson, NY & Bethel, CT.  Helping people was an important part of Helen’s life as a Registered Nurse at White Plains Hospital in White Plains, NY.  She also worked with her husband in their printing business and their jewelry business in Scarsdale, NY.  She loved playing the piano. For the enjoyment of her family, Helen wrote music and lyrics to over 50 songs, and wrote more than 60 poems.  In her 80’s she started painting beautiful scenic pictures which are cherished by many.  The love she had for her family will live on for generations.

Calling hours will be on Monday, December 5, 2016 from 9 AM to 12 Noon at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel, CT.  Burial will follow at 1:30 pm at the St. James the Less Church Cemetery, 10 Church Lane and Crane Road, Scarsdale, NY.
