Gerald P. Dinnen

Gerald Patrick Dinnen, age 74, of Bethel, CT died Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Regional Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Danbury, surrounded by family. He was the husband of Susie “Ann” Dinnen.

He was born in Fort Worth, TX, in 1944, son of the late Raymond Charles and Evelyn Rose Dinnen, grew up in Norwalk, and moved to Bethel in 1969.  Jerry owned and operated Dinnen Automotive on State Street in Danbury until he retired.

At an early age, Jerry developed a love for racing, which led to a life long journey, starting out with go-karts, moving on to Moto-cross, modified racing with SNYRA, sprint cars with U.R.C., and even the occasional running marathon. In 2016, Jerry set a land speed record at Loring Timing Association on a motorcycle at the age of 72. A true racer, Jerry was known as a man that would race anything at any time. Jerry gave unselfishly to all who knew him, always putting others before himself.

In addition to his wife, Jerry is survived by his daughter: Lisa, her husband, Dan Boulais; grandchildren: Chris and Katherine (fondly known to him as “Charlie”), and a sister, Marilyn Barbeau, of Florida.

The family will receive friends at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel on Wednesday, April 18, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.

Services will be held at the Bethel Funeral Home, Thursday, April 19, at 11:00 AM.
