On Monday, April 24, 2017, Ethel Munroe Kavicky of Southbury died peacefully in her sleep with family by her side. Born and raised in New York City, Ethel lived her 94 years to the fullest as a devoted wife to Paul Kavicky, Jr. (who predeceased her in 1995), beloved mother to three, grandmother to five, and cherished friend to many. 

As a career woman in New York City during the 1940's, Ethel served as a role model to her three daughters by returning to work in the late 1960's because she liked working.  During the 1980's and '90s she enjoyed retirement with her husband Paul, settling in New York, North Carolina, Connecticut, then Florida. Ethel later moved back to Connecticut to be closer to family while still maintaining a home in Florida. Ethel will be missed for her many charms, but most of all for her generous spirit shared with whomever she met.

Ethel is survived by her children: Katrina Kavicky Solomon of Greensboro, NC, Ann Kavicky Franzen (John Potter Franzen) of Fairfield, CT, Susan Kavicky Kelley of Ridgefield, CT; her grandchildren: Shira Solomon of Santa Cruz, CA, William Franzen (Amy Gordon Franzen) of Chicago, IL, Katrina Franzen of Grayling, MI, Aaron Kelley (Alissa Ryan Kelley) of Stamford, CT and Noah Kelley of Somerville, MA.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ethel’s name to Meals on Wheels of Western CT, 232 North Elm Street, Waterbury, CT 06702.

A private family service will be held at a later date. There are no calling hours.
